SPINAL MANIPULATION IS EFFECTIVE
AND COST REDUCING FOR SPINE CARE
Layden Chiropractic welcomes all spine
pain patients! Spine pain
is disconcerting for its sufferers. Plainville chiropractic
spinal manipulation is beneficial for many. Though low back pain is
a major cause of disability around the world, its
sufferers who experience recurrent or
persistent bouts of low back pain realize that chiropractic maintenance care is effective as it is
patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, find help with chiropractic. Neck pain patients who undergo
spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – had
lowered risk by 2.38 times to need higher
level and costly care like imaging,
injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated
with other type of care (46%). (2) A new study of
Medicare patient claims reports that patients who had reduced
access to chiropractic care had an uptick in visits
(32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and an increase in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000
Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your Plainville
chiropractor is well-qualified in performing
spinal manipulation. Spinal manipulation
is and has been recommended as first-line treatment for low back
pain. Reviews of Medicare claims note
that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal
manipulation and that the overall supply of spinal manipulation
providers is dropping. (4) Do not worry! Your hometown, Plainville chiropractor has no intention of not providing pain-relieving spinal manipulation, particularly
the gentle, research-supported Cox® Technic style of spinal
manipulation.

Plainville CHIROPRACTIC TIP
OF THE MONTH:
Beneficial B Vitamins
The benefits of B vitamins is
undeniable. B12 deficiency is commonly
linked with dementia in patients 65 years old and over. It has also been seen in younger
people who have normal B12 levels but have a high methylmalonic acid (MMA) level. Testing the MMA level
may be a useful test in patients with symptoms that seem unconnected
as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who tested a
high level of MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation
is showing potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain
and could lessen the necessary doses of analgesic
drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is known
for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A
new study found that
B2 to be anti-itch. (7) Are your B levels good?
We’ll talk at your next visit!
